Take off your airbox and any other plumbing to the carburetor. Measure the inlet of the carb. Obtain some flexible tubing from your local hardware store that has an outer diameter the same size as the inner diameter of the inlet to the carb. Be sure to seal the connection completely. Run the tubing higher than the expected height of the water level you plan on fording. The vent hose to the gas tank should be pinched off while submerged (this is ok for a few minutes time). Aside from these precautions the only concern is water entering the engine through the exhaust. As long as the engine is running, no water will enter the exhaust.
