Why does DNA precipitate in ethanol when it is polar?

So we did this experiment in cl where we extracted DNA out of a strawberry, we put ethanol on top of the solution of DNA and detergent. When the DNA was ped through the Ethanol, the DNA precipitated. Now since the DNA molecule is polar and ethanol is partly polar, why does the DNA precipitate if "like dissolves like"???
