They're still around.Mostly in the custom scene.It is electronically actuated,therefore you do not need to apply the clutch to change gears.Modern 4 wheel drive systems work in a similar way.There is no longer a need to move a shifter to change from 4 wheel to 2 wheel.Just push a on and it happens automatically
