Why is there so much denominational illiteracy among Protestants, etc?
Only Mormons and Catholics consider the term "dogmatic" a compliment. To them the term means knowing with clarity and precision what you believe. To most others the term means stubborn, hardheaded and unwilling to compromise. Compromise of course being defined as equivocating enough to agree with me instead of standing firm. Avoiding "dogmatism" means avoiding firm clear definitions of beliefs. To those whose paycheck means "s in the seats" doctrinal clarity risks offending meal ticket out the door.
